This Rainbow purse is a new item in the Crone inventory. It is constructed from bias cut batik fabric in the rainbow tones. This particular fabric fabric was picked because of its wonderful color way. (No we do not have a picture of the uncut fabric). Batik is the fabric of choice for this item because it appears the same on each side.
We followed the directions on this video on how to cut on the diagonal to get the longest possible strips. It took a few times to get the directions right, so remember the adage “measure twice, cut once”.
Knitted Batik Purse SOLD There are 2.5 yds of batik fabric cut in 1/2 inch bias strips. The strips are tied with a square knot to each other and knitted. The option is to have the knots show or not. We determined that showing the knots gives a much more fun look to the purse. The body of the purse is 13″ wide by 9″ in length and is all knitted, with a 2.5″ inch bottom width in garter stitch. This purse is not lined because the knots are pulled to the front. If one were made with the knots on the inside, the purse would need to be lined.
The handle is a generous 22″ in length. It can be used as a single loop to carry over the shoulder OR adjusted to be a double handle giving you about a 11 inches double handle. The flexible handle is knitted “I-Cord”. Again we choose to have the knots on the outside for a more casual look. ..
The closure is a combination of two large buttons the larger one is 2.25″ and the second one is 1.75″ with a large crochet loop to keep it closed.
